The Juba City Legislative Council has officially endorsed the six-month financial report for the 2024–2025 fiscal year, outlining revenue collection, expenditures, and key challenges faced by the Juba City Council administration.

During the council session, Deputy Mayor for Administration and Finance, Thiik Thiik Mayardit, stressed the importance of transparency and collective responsibility in managing public finances.

“We all need to work together,” he said. “If you see something going wrong, don’t stay silent—report it to your chairperson, who will escalate it to the appropriate leadership. That way, you’ll receive accurate information from those in charge.”

Mayardit reassured council members and the public that the administration remains stable and committed to accountability.

“There are no major difficulties, we are doing well,” he stated. “I am here to listen to the reading of the quarterly report, and our team, led by the CEO of Juba City Council, will respond accordingly.”

The financial report presented to the council provided a detailed breakdown of the city’s income and expenditures over the past six months, along with recommendations to enhance budget implementation and service delivery.

Following the presentation, Hon. Dina Keji John, Chairperson of the Juba City Legislative Council, announced the council’s decision to approve the report through a formal resolution.

“After listening to the reading and explanation of the 2024–2025 financial report, the members passed it under resolution number one,” she said. “Honourable members, without collaboration, we cannot achieve anything in this institution.”

The approved report marks a significant step toward strengthening fiscal oversight and enhancing urban governance in the capital.
