Central Equatoria State Governor, Augustino Jadalla Wani, has reassured the people of Morobo County of the government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region.

During a public address in Morobo town, Governor Jadalla emphasized his administration’s dedication to finding lasting solutions to the ongoing violence and instability, stressing the importance of strengthening civil-military relations to build trust and cooperation between the local population and the armed forces.

“I have fully understood the hardships you are all enduring. I traveled here today to assure you of the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Morobo. I urge you, as citizens, to cooperate with the military, this is vital for peace,” Jadalla declared.

The governor’s assurances came during his visit to Morobo County on Wednesday, following violent clashes between the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition (SPLA-IO), which displaced thousands of residents.

His visit aimed to assess urgent humanitarian needs, deliver food supplies, provide medical assistance, and encourage internally displaced persons (IDPs) to return home, urging residents to reject war and focus on rebuilding their lives.

“It is time we say no to war. It is time to refuse to be mobilized into rebellions. Instead, focus on ensuring your children receive an education and grow into the future leaders of this country,” he advised.

Among the mass were the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), whom the governor promised his government’s endeavor to deliver food aid and provide shelter assistance to them.

Morobo County recently witnessed violent conflict involving SSPDF forces and those of SPLA-Io, resulting in mass displacement of the civil population in the area, including Panyume, accusing the SPLA-IO of causing insecurity in the county.

“Your Excellency, the people of Morobo are peace-loving. Any effort toward lasting peace in this country will be embraced,” said Morobo County commissioner Charles Bullen.
