The family of Wol Akol Ngor, a young boda-boda driver whose body was discovered along the roadside in Agep Awer, Kuac South, Warrap State, is calling on authorities to bring his killers to justice.
According to his brother, Ngor Akol Ngor, Wol was originally from Aweil West County in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State but had been working as a boda-boda rider in Wau.
On the day of his disappearance, he had transported two passengers from Wau to Kuacjok.
”He worked as a boda-boda rider. We don’t yet have full details about his death, but according to his colleagues at the boda-boda Park, he picked up two passengers yesterday (Tuesday) around 3:00 PM from Wau heading to Kuajok,” the deceased brother, Akol stated.
Upon arriving in Kuacjok, Wol reportedly contacted a woman he knew, informing her that he would arrive late and requesting that she leave a house key in a familiar spot. However, he never made it home.
“She did as he said, and they waited for him the whole night, but he never arrived. His phone has been off since then, and all efforts to reach him failed until we received the heartbreaking news of his death,” Ngor added.
The grieving family is now urging the state authorities to intervene and ensure those responsible are held accountable.
“I appeal to the governments of Warrap State, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, and Western Bahr el Ghazal to help us find those responsible for killing my brother,” he pleaded.
Efforts to reach out to the state authorities for comment were futile by the time of this publication. However, Wol’s death marks the first of its kind along the Wau-Kuacjok road.
The tragic incident is part of a concerning rise in violence in Warrap State, where at least six people have been killed and 16 others injured this May alone due to inter-communal conflicts, particularly in Tonj East.
