The community in Lado Payam, Juba County, has launched the allocation of 22,000 plots to promote development and curb rising land disputes and illegal land grabbing.

On Tuesday, local chiefs and community leaders gathered to officially begin the land allotment process, ensuring proper documentation for legal ownership.

The initiative, led by the IllaKare and Ku’da Lo’dimi Development Association, aims to provide land at affordable rates while preventing unauthorized claims.

Executive Chief Justin Lado Wani emphasized that the move would establish clear land ownership and discourage disputes.

This initiative ensures every plot is allocated legally, eliminating conflicts over land grabbing,” he said.

Sub-Chief Laku Kamilo Jele noted that consultations with state authorities led to the structured allocation process, ensuring security for landowners.

Alemi Tombe, Chairperson of the Development Committee, highlighted that designated plots include investment areas while public spaces such as roads and community facilities have been planned to prevent future disputes.

Elder Juma Tombe assured residents of the security forces presence to protect against illegal claims.

Representatives from youth and women’s groups expressed support, stating that the initiative provides fair access to land ownership while promoting infrastructure growth.
