UN Women has strengthened the National Transformational Leadership Institute (NTLI) in South Sudan with a donation of advanced electronic equipment, enhancing its ability to promote women’s leadership and development across the country.

During the official handover ceremony, NTLI Director Dr. Angelina M. Bazugba expressed gratitude for the ongoing collaboration between UN Women and the Ministry of Gender, Child, and Social Affairs, highlighting the institute’s unwavering commitment since its establishment in 2016 to shaping future female leaders.

“Since we launched, we have never stopped working,” said Dr. Bazugba. “Our mission is to empower women and girls to become leaders, creating positive change in South Sudan.”

Based at the University of Juba, NTLI has been instrumental in preparing women for leadership roles in politics, civil society, academia, and business. Many of its graduates now hold key positions or are actively engaging in the upcoming national elections.

The donation, which includes computers, printers, and tablets, will enhance the institute’s capacity to document its initiatives and sustain training programs.

“Our goal is to provide essential tools to support NTLI’s impactful work,” said UN Women’s Country Representative in South Sudan, Delphine Serumaga. “Better documentation, both anecdotal and statistical, will help capture and communicate the institute’s achievements.”

Serumaga emphasized that strengthening women’s leadership is a vital step toward South Sudan’s peace and stability.

“This is about fostering a more peaceful and secure South Sudan by ensuring women are empowered to take leadership roles,” she added.

Since its inception, NTLI has trained hundreds of women leaders, including members of parliament, civil society advocates, and entrepreneurs, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to advance gender equality and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The latest digital support from UN Women reinforces NTLI’s mission to nurture strong, capable female leaders, ensuring that South Sudan’s women have the tools and opportunities to lead with confidence.
