The walls of South Sudan’s football leadership are shaking under the weight of explosive allegations, as prominent legal advocate Musa Hassan Urbano lodges a formal complaint to FIFA.
In a document obtained by Standard Zone News, Urbano’s petition describes the SSFA under its president Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek’s, leadership as “a system operating outside the bounds of its own laws,” raising serious questions about integrity, transparency, and abuse of power at the helm of South Sudanese football.
This unprecedented legal salvo now places the SSFA under international scrutiny, as FIFA is called to investigate alleged breaches that could threaten the credibility of football governance in the country.
According to Urbano, SSFA leadership has manipulated internal governance processes to consolidate control and suppress democratic participation within the organization.
The complaint calls for immediate intervention by football’s global governing body.
“I would like to submit this legal complaint against the South Sudan Football Association leadership and its president, Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek, for violating the SSFA constitution and abusing their mandate,” Hassan wrote.
Central to the complaint is the leadership’s failure to convene the SSFA General Assembly on its constitutionally mandated dates, February 22 and June 30, 2025, without offering procedural justification or a public statement.
Efforts to reach Gen. Maduot and the SSFA leadership for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
However, Hassan further claims that critical documents, including proposed constitutional amendments, agendas, and financial reports, were not shared with members within the required timeframes, in breach of Article 31, Paragraphs 3 and 4 of the SSFA constitution.
The advocate also condemned a proposed constitutional amendment requiring presidential candidates to be seconded by at least six local football associations, calling it “unfair and unnecessary,” and designed to deter competition and entrench incumbency.
Hassan alleges that SSFA President Maduot launched an “illegal campaign” using official football events, such as the June 6 launch of the Women’s Football League in Bor, to advance his bid for another term.
“The SSFA president is exploiting football platforms to influence stakeholders and secure another four-year term, which undermines democratic principles,” he stated.
