Governor Mujung reflected on Independence Day as a moment for both pride and contemplation, a day that honors the resilience, courage, and sacrifices of the country’s founding heroes and heroines.
“This is more than just a historic day,” he said. “It is a reminder of the values our freedom was built upon peace, unity, justice, and dignity. Today, we recommit ourselves to these ideals as a people bound by a shared future.”

The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.
He highlighted that lasting peace can only be achieved when people are empowered and their basic needs are met.
Recognizing the challenges still facing the nation, Governor Mujung called for solidarity and collective action.
“At this critical time, let us rise above divisions and stand together,” he urged. “Only by embracing our diversity and working hand in hand can we build the peaceful, united South Sudan that our forebears dreamed of.”
With the country advancing toward the full implementation of the 2018 peace agreement and gearing up for its first national elections, the Governor noted that this year’s Independence Day holds even greater significance.
“Happy 14th Independence Day,” he concluded. “May our unity guide us, our peace sustains us, and may God bless Central Equatoria State and the Republic of South Sudan.”
