Jamus SC has hired Brazilian veteran Heron Ricardo Ferreira as head coach, furthering its big-spending rebuild despite continued lack of financial disclosure.
Ferreira, who brings decades of coaching experience across Africa and Latin America, has signed a one-year contract with the Juba-based side.
The agreement was confirmed in Tanzania by Marsal Robin, the club’s Deputy Finance Secretary and head of delegation, according to a statement published on Jamus SC’s official page.
Ferreira takes over from Congolese-French coach Jean Claude Loboko, who guided Jamus SC to an unbeaten domestic double last season, clinching both the South Sudan Premier League and the FA Cup.
The Brazilian’s arrival comes on the heels of an aggressive transfer window in which Jamus signed dozens of new players, an unprecedented overhaul for any South Sudanese club.
However, the exact figures and financial details behind these acquisitions remain undisclosed, raising questions about the source, scale, and sustainability of the club’s spending.
Despite mounting public interest, the club has not released any breakdown of its expenditures or funding sources, even as it continues to attract high-profile names both on and off the pitch.
The ambitious rebuild appears aimed at positioning Jamus SC as a dominant force domestically and on the continental stage.
The team is currently preparing to face El Merrikh SC Bentiu in the South Sudan Super Cup later this month at Juba National Stadium.
They are also set to represent South Sudan in the upcoming CAF Champions League preliminary round, marking a significant step into regional competition.
Ferreira’s experience, including times with clubs in Egypt, Sudan, and Angola, is expected to reinforce Jamus SC’s tactical edge as they aim for titles and continental credibility.
Still, with so much money seemingly in play and so little transparency, the club’s rapid ascent is likely to continue drawing scrutiny.
