
The Ministry of General Education and Instruction has officially released the long-awaited results of the 2024 Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) examinations.
“I am delighted to inform the nation that the South Sudan National Examinations Council has finally processed the results of the 2024 exams.
I profoundly apologize for the unprecedented delay and pledge that a new system will prevent such long delays in the future,” said Minister Kuyok Abol Kuyok, who also chairs the National Examinations Council.
A total of 50,004 candidates sat for the exams across 535 academic schools nationwide, including 29,353 males and 20,651 females.
An additional 130 students registered in the Commercial Section at Juba Commercial Secondary School, while 197 enrolled in the Technical Section at Juba Technical Secondary School.
Of the 48,079 candidates who attempted the exams, 36,701 passed, recording an overall 76.3 percent pass rate. However, 11,378 candidates failed, representing 23.7 percent.
Subject analysis revealed that Chemistry, Principles of Accounts, and Arabic Language were the poorest-performing areas, while Agriculture, Computer Science, Physics, Islamic Religion, English Literature, and Civics showed notable improvement.
The Ministry pledged urgent measures, including recruitment and training of teachers in the underperforming subjects, to strengthen teaching and learning outcomes.
The Minister also announced the top-performing schools and students, noting that results can be accessed from the schools where candidates sat their examinations.
