SSFF president, sports minister discusses football reform plans

The President of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF), Francis Amin, led a delegation to brief the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, on ambitious plans to reform and transform football across the country.

Mr. Amin outlined a comprehensive roadmap that includes launching a structured national Premier League, training and certifying football officials, investing in sports infrastructure, and embedding transparency in the federation’s operations.

He stressed that rebuilding the national team remains a top priority, with reforms geared toward preparing South Sudan to compete effectively in regional and international tournaments.

“These plans are not only about fixing immediate challenges but also about creating a sustainable system that will empower young players and inspire the next generation of footballers,” Amin said.

In his remarks, Minister Geng congratulated the newly elected SSFF leadership and assured the government’s full backing for the federation’s initiatives.

He emphasized that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will work hand in hand with the federation, clubs, and other stakeholders to ensure football becomes a unifying force and a source of national pride.

“Teamwork between the Ministry, the federation, and clubs is essential if we are to achieve our common objectives,” Dr. Geng noted.

“The government is committed to supporting football at all levels as part of building peace and unity in South Sudan.”

The meeting signaled renewed cooperation between the Ministry and SSFF, with both sides pledging to foster transparency, growth, and professionalism in South Sudanese football.
