In their first-ever appearance at an international championship, South Sudan’s Men’s Blind Football Team has announced its arrival in spectacular fashion, delivering two impressive wins at the African Division 2 Blind Football Championship in Kampala, Uganda.
Playing under the bright lights of Hamz Stadium, the South Sudanese debutants stunned host nation Uganda with a commanding 3–0 victory before sealing another clean-sheet triumph, beating Zimbabwe 2–0 later in the day.
The back-to-back victories not only earned South Sudan six points but also secured their place in the upcoming World Championships in Las Vegas, USA.
Team officials and supporters celebrated the wins as a symbol of resilience and national pride, noting that this was the first time the country had ever participated in an international blind football competition.
“This moment goes beyond football, it’s about showing the world what’s possible when determination meets opportunity,” said one team official.
“Our players have trained tirelessly despite the challenges, and today, they have made South Sudan proud.”
The team’s unity, discipline, and tactical awareness drew admiration from fans and opponents alike.
For a squad competing at this level for the first time, their calm confidence and technical quality stood out as a sign of great potential.
South Sudan is now set to face Senegal on Wednesday, October 29, as they continue their campaign in Kampala.
