
Jubilation filled Juba National Stadium on Wednesday as Libya One School achieved a remarkable double, winning both the boys’ and girls’ finals at the South Sudan Inter-Schools Football Tournament.
The much-anticipated event drew crowds of students, parents, and football lovers, who cheered passionately as the young talents battled under the slogan “For Equality and Justice.”
In the girls’ category, Libya One Girls’ School outclassed Gudele East School with a well-earned 2–0 victory, displaying sharp coordination and teamwork.
Later, the boys’ team delivered a dominant performance, crushing Juba Nabari 5–0 to seal Libya One’s clean sweep of the championship trophies.
The tournament’s closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Francis Amin Michael, President of the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF), who handed over the trophies to the jubilant winners.
Representatives from the World Food Programme (WFP) and World Vision South Sudan also attended, commending the initiative for promoting youth development, inclusion, and equality through sport.
“This tournament shows the power of football to unite young people, build confidence, and encourage teamwork,” said Mr. Amin during the award presentation.
Organized in collaboration with WFP and World Vision, the tournament brought together school teams from across Juba, showcasing not just skill but also the transformative power of sports in fostering harmony and hope among youth.
For Libya One, the day ended with double glory — two trophies, countless smiles, and a reminder that football remains a beacon of unity and aspiration in South Sudan.
