President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on reappointed government officials to dedicate themselves fully to service delivery and address the pressing challenges facing South Sudan.
Speaking during a swearing-in ceremony held in Juba on Wednesday, the President urged the returning officials to work tirelessly and channel their experience toward improving the lives of citizens.
The ceremony saw key figures take their oaths, including Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga, Presidential Envoy to the Middle East Ambassador Monica Achol Abel Aguek, Minister of Information Ateny Wek Ateny, Minister of Justice Michael Makuei Lueth, Minister of Roads and Bridges Peter Lam Both, Minister of Environment and Forestry Mabior Garang de Mabior, Governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony, and Inspector General of Police Gen. Said Chawul Lom.
President Kiir gave specific directives to the officials, emphasizing reforms in their respective sectors.
The new Minister of Justice was tasked with addressing the backlog of court cases and improving judicial delivery, while the Governor of Central Equatoria was urged to strengthen security to protect citizens and their property.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Envoy to the Middle East was entrusted with fostering diplomatic relations to advance national interests.
The Head of State expressed optimism that the seasoned team would bring renewed energy and focus to the administration’s efforts, stressing that their work is crucial to restoring public confidence and improving conditions across the country. “This is a call to action,” Kiir said.
“You have been entrusted again; now is the time to work harder and deliver results for our people.”
