Central Equatoria State launches New Year drive for peace and services

Central Equatoria State (CES) has officially launched its New Year drive aimed at strengthening peace, improving service delivery, and accelerating the implementation of key development priorities across the State.

The New Year initiative was unveiled during an extended leadership meeting chaired by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony, bringing together senior State officials to review progress and set clear priorities for the year ahead.

The meeting focused on strengthening implementation of the State Government’s four key agenda areas: peace and security, reorganization of Juba City to meet international urban standards, agricultural empowerment through cooperative societies, and the enhancement of social services across Central Equatoria State.

Addressing the meeting, Governor Emmanuel Adil emphasized the need for renewed momentum, discipline, and collective responsibility among ministers and institutions to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and in a timely manner.

He urged State officials to move beyond routine administrative work and instead focus on practical actions that directly improve the lives of citizens.

“Let the New Year be a time of unity, peace, and harmony,” Governor Adil said, calling on State leaders to demonstrate commitment, accountability, and effective leadership in the execution of government programs.

He stressed that sustainable development and service delivery can only be achieved in an environment of stability and cooperation among communities.

Peace and security were underscored as the foundation of the State’s development agenda. Governor Adil reaffirmed CES’s commitment to promoting social cohesion and peaceful coexistence, noting that strengthening security and unity remains critical to long-term stability and economic progress.

Urban reform featured prominently in the discussions, with Governor Adil highlighting the importance of reorganizing Juba City in line with international urban planning standards.

He noted that improved urban management will enhance public safety, infrastructure development, and access to essential services for residents of the State capital.

In the agricultural sector, the Governor reiterated the State’s strategy of empowering farmers through cooperative societies to boost food production, create employment, and strengthen local economies.

He emphasized that agriculture remains a key pillar for achieving food security and reducing poverty across the State.

The New Year drive also prioritizes the expansion and improvement of social services, including health, education, and other basic public services.

Governor Adil directed ministries and institutions to strengthen coordination and ensure equitable access to services for all communities.

The meeting reaffirmed CES’s determination to pursue its development agenda with renewed energy in the New Year, positioning peace, unity, and effective service delivery at the center of governance efforts.

The meeting was attended by the State’s Deputy Governor, Paulino Lukudu Obede, State Advisors, Cabinet Ministers, members of independent commissions, the Juba County Commissioner, and the leadership of Juba City Council led by Sarafino Wani Swaka, reflecting broad institutional support for the State’s 2026 priorities.
