The United States has called on South Sudan’s leaders to maintain peace, accelerate the implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement, and guarantee unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities across the country.
The call came after the United States Ambassador to South Sudan, Michael J. Adler, met with President Salva Kiir Mayardit in Juba on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on advancing the implementation of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) and addressing the critical need for timely and unrestricted humanitarian aid delivery.
Ambassador Adler emphasized that sustained peace, effective governance, and protection of civilians are essential to stabilizing the country and enabling humanitarian actors to reach communities in need.
The diplomat also stressed the importance of ensuring that resources and services reach the most vulnerable, including internally displaced persons and populations affected by food insecurity.
“Sustaining peace and ensuring humanitarian access are essential to improving the lives of the South Sudanese people,” Ambassador Adler said, highlighting the continued role of the international community in supporting recovery efforts.
During the meeting, President Kiir reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fully implementing the Revitalised Peace Agreement.
He stressed ongoing efforts to consolidate security, strengthen governance, and create an environment conducive to development and humanitarian work across all states.
The discussions also touched on cooperation with international partners to facilitate the smooth delivery of aid, particularly in conflict-affected and remote areas.
The United States remains a key diplomatic and humanitarian partner to South Sudan, consistently engaging with national leaders to promote peace, accountability, and service delivery.
