The trial of suspended First Vice President Riek Machar and seven co-accused members of the SPLM/A-IO has been postponed to Monday, 30 March 2026.
During a brief court session in Juba on Wednesday morning, presiding judge Stephen Simon Binjigwa said the adjournment was due to the illness of Isaac Pur Majok, one of the three judges hearing the case.
The proceedings are expected to resume on Monday, when the defence team will continue its cross-examination of the prosecution’s final witness, digital forensic expert Calvin Rafadi.
Machar and his co-accused are facing charges linked to their alleged roles in Nasir incident including accusations of incitement, rebellion, and actions said to have undermined state security.
The prosecution argues that the group played a part in coordinating activities that contributed to instability, while the defence maintains that the charges are politically motivated.
The case, which has drawn significant national and international attention, is widely seen as a key test of South Sudan’s judicial process and its handling of politically sensitive cases.
