The Government of South Sudan has approved a new set of reforms aimed at strengthening public service delivery, improving accountability, and enhancing the management of state resources across government institutions.
The reforms were endorsed during the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
According to the government, the newly approved measures form part of ongoing efforts to implement institutional reforms under the Revitalised Peace Agreement and improve efficiency within public institutions.
Among the key resolutions passed by Cabinet are new regulations governing the management and control of government vehicles.
The reforms are intended to promote accountability, proper use of state assets, and better monitoring of official vehicles across ministries and government agencies.
Officials say the new controls will help address long-standing concerns related to the misuse, poor tracking, and management of government vehicles while ensuring public resources are utilized responsibly.
Cabinet also approved a new policy framework aimed at reforming prison feeding services across the country.
Under the new arrangement, the Ministry of Interior will oversee a centralized and standardized prison feeding system.
The ministry will be responsible for procurement processes, menu planning, monitoring, and the overall coordination of feeding services in prisons nationwide.
The government believes the centralized system will improve food quality, strengthen transparency in procurement, and ensure equal standards are maintained in correctional facilities across the country.
In a separate decision, the Cabinet approved the Policy Framework and Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for the period 2025–2030.
The strategic plan is expected to guide the ministry and its stakeholders in implementing activities aligned with its mandate in a more efficient and effective manner over the next five years.
Government officials described the reforms as part of broader efforts to modernize institutions, improve governance, and strengthen public confidence in state service delivery systems.
