Super Star FC-Bor earn Premier League place with national title

Super Star FC-Bor completed a dream season on Sunday, securing both the South Sudan National League title and promotion to the South Sudan Premier League after a dramatic final day at Juba National Stadium.

The Bor-based side were officially crowned champions after rivals Munuki FC defeated Al Maderia FC 2-0 in the decisive playoff fixture, a result that sealed Super Star’s place at the top of the standings with four points.

Munuki’s victory came courtesy of a brilliant brace from striker Joseph Muyang, whose two goals not only ended Al Maderia’s title hopes but also booked Munuki FC a place in next season’s South Sudan Premier League.

For Super Star FC-Bor, the celebrations began long before the final whistle.

Having opened their playoff campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Munuki FC, the Bor club followed up with an entertaining 2-2 draw against Al Maderia.

Those results left Super Star on four points from two matches, placing their fate in the hands of Munuki and Al Maderia in the tournament’s final encounter.

As players, officials and supporters watched anxiously from the stands, Muyang delivered when it mattered most. His two goals ensured Munuki claimed all three points, leaving Al Maderia stranded and confirming Super Star FC-Bor as national champions.

The title caps an extraordinary campaign for the Jonglei State club, who have established themselves as one of the most formidable teams in South Sudanese football.

Their journey to the national crown was built on consistency, discipline and an unbeaten run that stretched from local competitions to the national playoffs.

Super Star first lifted the Bor South Sudan Cup without conceding a single goal before going on to win the Bor Local Football Association Premier League title unbeaten.

They carried that momentum into the National League playoffs, where they remained undefeated against the country’s best emerging clubs.

The championship not only delivers the first National League title in the club’s history but also secures promotion to the South Sudan Premier League, marking a new chapter for a team that has risen rapidly from local contenders to national champions.

Munuki FC, despite missing out on the title, also had reason to celebrate.

Their victory over Al Maderia saw them finish on three points, enough to claim the second available Premier League promotion slot.

As jubilant scenes unfolded in Juba and celebrations erupted back home in Bor, Super Star FC-Bor’s remarkable rise reached its crowning moment.

From local dominance to national glory, the club has written one of the most memorable success stories in recent South Sudanese football history and now prepares to test itself among the country’s elite in the South Sudan Premier League.
