South Sudan Supreme Airlines has issued a formal response to a recent statement by the South Sudan Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA), clarifying that it has not resumed flight operations and remains committed to meeting all regulatory and safety requirements before returning to service.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ayii Duang Ayii, the airline said an earlier communication regarding its CRJ-100 aircraft had been misunderstood.
The company explained that the announcement referred only to the successful completion of a technical assessment of the aircraft and not the resumption of commercial flights.
According to the airline, the aircraft is still undergoing maintenance preparations and additional technical work required before it can be deployed for operations.
South Sudan Supreme Airlines said it respects the regulatory mandate of the Civil Aviation Authority and remains committed to upholding aviation safety, security and compliance with national and international regulations.
The company acknowledged concerns raised by the aviation regulator and pledged to continue working closely with the authority to address outstanding operational, airworthiness and certification requirements before any flights can resume.
The airline also clarified that a previous suspension of its operations had been lifted following decisions by the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Transport, after which aviation authorities were directed to undertake a broader review of aircraft airworthiness at Juba International Airport.
On the issue of reported shooting incidents involving company aircraft, the airline said the matter was formally reported to police and that evidence of damage remains available for review by relevant authorities.
South Sudan Supreme Airlines assured customers, partners and the public that no aircraft would return to service until all regulatory, technical and safety conditions have been fully met.
The company called for continued cooperation between aviation stakeholders, saying constructive engagement and adherence to regulations are essential for building a safe, reliable and efficient aviation sector in South Sudan.
