Detailed breakdown of the 2024 primary eight examination results

The 2024 Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) examination results have been officially announced, revealing a national pass rate of 94.9%. The examinations were administered from November 18 to November 22, 2024, with a total of 79,010 candidates registered 43,266 males and 35,744 females. However, 77,264 candidates (42,257 males and 35,007 females) sat for the exams, while the rest were marked absent. The exams were conducted in 1,814 schools, organized into 522 examination centres across the country.

Among the 79,010 registered candidates, 73,326 successfully passed, while 3,878 did not meet the requirements. JCC Model Primary School showcased remarkable performance, dominating the top ten positions.

Minister Kuyok Abol Kuyok highlighted the significance of this milestone, emphasizing the growing success and participation of female students in South Sudan’s education system. The exams were conducted nationwide in 522 centers across 1,814 schools. The performance index is 73.1%.

“This year’s results reflect a strong performance overall, and we are encouraged by the growing participation and success of female students,” Kuyok noted with the breakdown below:

Top performance categories

  • 450–500 marks: 13 candidates (highest score: 453)
  • 400–449 marks: 24,319 candidates
  • 300–399 marks: 42,368 candidates
  • 250–299 marks: 6,626 candidates
  • 0–249 marks: 3,878 candidates (who did not pass)

While the majority of students performed well, the subject-wise analysis revealed areas needing improvement.

“Mathematics and Islamic Religious Education (IRE) remain subjects of concern due to relatively low performance,” said Kuyok. “However, we are pleased to see notable improvement in Science and Christian Religious Education (CRE), which shows our efforts in curriculum development are yielding results.”

Kuyok commended teachers, students, and examination officials for their dedication and urged continued focus on improving education quality, especially in underperforming subjects.

The best 13 So the top student was Flex Luala Wani Yubei from JCC Hai Negil Primary School.

He obtained 453 marks. Number two was Moses Jerry Acire, from JCC Model Primary School. He also joined top one, 453.

In 2023 total of 68, 281candidates sat for the examination between 20 and 24 November 2023 if which 37,841 were male and 30,440 were female.
