Warrap Governor rejects claims of forged presidential decrees

Warrap State Governor Magok Magok Deng has strongly refuted circulating allegations that recent presidential decrees reshuffling state officials were forged, asserting that all changes were legitimate and approved by President Salva Kiir.

In a press statement released Friday, the governor’s press secretary, Makor Mangok, addressed online misinformation that claimed the decrees read on state broadcaster SSBC were falsified and issued without the governor’s knowledge.

“The article alleged that there was a political crisis in Warrap State because the presidential decrees were forged, which is completely untrue,” Mangok said.

He clarified that Governor Magok had submitted recommendations for the changes, which were subsequently endorsed by the President of the Republic.

“The governor of Warrap State forwarded the names and proposals to Juba, and they were approved by H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit,” he emphasized. “The decrees are authentic, and the governor was fully aware of the process.”

The presidential decrees issued Thursday brought several changes to the Warrap State government. Mabith Akok, Minister of Health, was dismissed and replaced by Abak Yol Madoot. Deborah Awut Mayom, Minister of General Education and Instruction, was replaced by Solomon Bol Mabior, who was simultaneously relieved of his previous position as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs with no immediate replacement. Additionally, Joseph Madut Deng, Commissioner of Tonj North, was dismissed and replaced by Mawien Chileu Akech.

Following the announcements, some social media users claimed the changes were politically motivated and linked to recent tensions involving arrests of SPLM-IO members in the state. Others alleged that the decrees were forged by an official in the presidency without the governor’s input.

One viral post even claimed Governor Magok was shocked by the news and planned to travel to Juba to challenge the decision.

However, the governor’s office labeled the reports as baseless.

“These rumors are pure propaganda, sponsored by enemies of peace and stability in Warrap State,” Mangok said. “The public is advised to disregard such misinformation and rely on credible, official sources.”

The governor’s press unit reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, constitutional processes, and public accountability.
