
Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, held a high-level meeting with Dr. James Wani Igga, Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, to discuss the harmonization of tax collection between the National Government and Central Equatoria State.
The meeting, held as a courtesy call, focused on aligning tax policies and administrative procedures in order to eliminate duplication, enhance efficiency, and ensure a transparent and predictable revenue system.
Both leaders emphasized that a harmonized tax framework is critical to improving service delivery, boosting investor confidence, and strengthening cooperation between national and state institutions.
Governor Adil briefed the Vice President on the prevailing security situation in Central Equatoria State, with particular attention to recent insecurity caused by SPLA-IO elements in Panyume.
He confirmed that the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) have successfully recaptured Panyume and restored government control, describing the situation as calm and stable.
The Governor also updated Prof. Wani Igga on political and organizational developments within the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) at the state level.
Dr. Igga commended the state leadership for its efforts to promote security, institutional coordination, and party readiness.
He reiterated the national leadership’s commitment to strengthening intergovernmental relations and ensuring a fair, coordinated tax system that supports economic stability and sustainable development.
Governor Adil reaffirmed that Central Equatoria State remains committed to peace, effective governance, and democratic processes, noting that SPLM members, cadres, and supporters across the state are fully prepared for the 2026 general elections.
