Hussein Abdelbagi sworn in as Kiir directs renewed focus on basic services

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has sworn in Hussein Abdelbagi Akol as Vice President in charge of the Service Cluster, directing government institutions to intensify the delivery of basic services and place citizens’ livelihoods at the center of national policy and action.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony, President Kiir tasked Vice President Abdelbagi with spearheading reforms to strengthen institutional performance and improve efficiency across ministries under the Service Cluster.

The President emphasized that effective service delivery particularly in education, health, and other social sectors remains critical to national development and social welfare.

In his remarks, Vice President Abdelbagi pledged renewed commitment to collaborative leadership, vowing to work closely with ministers and technical teams to expand access to quality services and respond more effectively to public needs.

The Service Cluster oversees key ministries, including General Education and Instruction; Higher Education, Science and Technology; and Health, positioning the Vice President’s office at the heart of efforts to improve everyday outcomes for citizens nationwide.
