President Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed government institutions to align priorities following a high-level briefing on the country’s economic, political, and security situation.
The update was delivered on Monday by Vice President and Economic Cluster Chair, James Wani Igga, who outlined ongoing efforts to stabilize the economy, address security concerns, and prepare for upcoming elections.
Speaking after the meeting, Wani Igga said discussions focused on tackling inflation, strengthening the political environment, and ensuring coordinated implementation of national policies.
President Kiir also instructed the Economic Cluster to incorporate outcomes from his recent visit to South Africa, particularly on strategies aimed at easing economic pressure and maintaining stability.
The meeting further reviewed internal developments within the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement, including efforts to reinforce grassroots mobilization ahead of the polls.
Officials say the directives signal a renewed push for coordinated leadership as South Sudan moves toward elections and broader economic recovery.
