
President Salva Kiir Mayardit has arrived in Addis Ababa for a state working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Republic of South Sudan and the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Upon arrival, President Kiir was received by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed before the two leaders proceeded to hold a comprehensive bilateral meeting focused on key areas of mutual interest.
Discussions centered on economic and political reforms, infrastructure development, the oil sector, transportation, as well as peace and security cooperation.
The meeting underscored the importance of deepening collaboration in sectors seen as critical to advancing growth and stability in both countries.
President Kiir briefed Prime Minister Abiy on the current political, security, humanitarian, and economic situation in South Sudan, highlighting ongoing government efforts to promote stability, implement reforms, and drive national development.
The two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral and regional issues, reaffirming the longstanding ties between Juba and Addis Ababa.
They further agreed to fast-track the implementation of existing agreements and explore new avenues of cooperation for mutual benefit.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to enhancing economic integration and strengthening people-to-people relations, signaling a renewed push to elevate cooperation between South Sudan and Ethiopia.
