South Sudan’s Cabinet is set to resume its weekly sessions on Friday, 14th November 2025, after a nine-month pause that stalled national business, including the passage of the national budget.

The announcement came from South Sudan’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro, in an official letter to the Managing Director of the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

The letter highlights both the resumption of Cabinet sessions and an induction training for ministers ahead of the meetings.

“The Cabinet will officially resume its weekly sessions on Friday, 14th November 2025, after a nine-month pause that temporarily stalled national business, including the passage of the national budget,” the letter stated.

In preparation for the resumption, all ministers are required to attend an induction training session on Tuesday, 12th November 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at the Main Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The purpose of this training is to refresh and reactivate understanding of governance procedures and Cabinet decision-making processes in preparation for the resumption of Cabinet activities,” the letter noted.

Last month during RJMEC meeting, Minister Lomuro explained that the hiatus was due to renovations to the main Cabinet chamber, dismissing suggestions that it was linked to political tensions.

The Council of Ministers, the government’s top executive body, last met in March 2025, with regular Friday meetings traditionally chaired by President Salva Kiir or First Vice President Riek Machar.
