South Sudan has officially joined the global Paralympic movement after being granted full membership in the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) during the IPC General Assembly held in Seoul.
Represented by Undersecretary of Youth and Sports, Dr. Monica Agum Awet Akot, the country’s admission marks a historic step that allows South Sudanese para-athletes to compete on the world stage and gives the nation voting rights within the IPC.
Officials hailed the milestone as a powerful statement of inclusion, equality, and opportunity, underscoring the government’s commitment to empowering athletes with disabilities and elevating para-sports both at home and internationally.
