Two Rounds, One Champion: Majok Conquers Tanzania Fighter
In what can only be described as a kickboxing spectacle for the ages, James Majok, South Sudan’s most decorated fighter, turned the Juba ring into his personal battlefield on Saturday night.
What was expected to be a five-round slugfest ended in just two rounds as Majok demolished Tanzania’s national Muay Thai champion Emmanuel Shija, leaving the crowd roaring in disbelief.
From the opening bell, Majok showcased the power, precision, and agility that have earned him a reputation as Africa’s Muay Thai powerhouse.
Each round was scheduled for three minutes, but the fight’s intensity made the clock irrelevant. By the second round, Majok had firmly established himself as the lion of South Sudan, forcing Shija to concede the WBC Muay Thai Africa Championship.
“This victory isn’t just mine,” Majok said, still buzzing from the adrenaline of the fight.
“I fight for every young South Sudanese who chooses discipline over destruction and peace over violence. In the ring, we fight with fists, but outside, we fight for our nation’s future.”
With this win, Majok now holds three major world titles: the World Muay Thai Association Championship Belt, the World Muay Thai Organization Championship Belt, and the WBC Muay Thai Africa Championship, in addition to numerous regional titles, solidifying his place as South Sudan’s ultimate Muay Thai warrior.
Hadj Bettahar, WBC Muay Thai’s Africa chairperson, praised both fighters.
“Tonight was a milestone for African combat sports. In the end, sport wins, Africa wins. We must stand together to put our continent on the map.”
Even Emmanuel Shija acknowledged Majok’s dominance.
“He is young, strong, and truly the king of kickboxing of South Sudan. Congratulations to him and his coach. This is how sports are meant to be, powerful, skillful, and unforgettable.”

The night was far from over. South Sudan’s Sky Okony continued the nation’s winning streak by defeating Tanzania’s Musa Said Munisi in a breathtaking Muay Thai showdown, while Eddy Jadalla claimed the South Sudan MMA Kickboxing Championship by defeating Wizz.
Fan Geu Lazarus summed it up perfectly: “This is the South Sudan we want—where excellence, hard work, and dedication rise above all. Champions aren’t born by chance; they are forged in sweat, skill, and heart. And tonight, Majok proves it to the world.”
South Sudan’s kickboxing scene is roaring, and with champions like Majok, Sky Okony, and Eddy Jadalla, the nation’s fighters are sending a clear message: we fight with power, pride, and purpose.
