Former South Sudan Football Association president, Gen. Augustino Maduot Parek, has joined former Gogrial State Governor Maj. Gen. Victor Atem Atem in declaring interest in the governorship of Warrap State ahead of the December 22, 2026 general elections.
Parek announced his intention to contest for the state’s top political office, saying he is ready to compete and bring his leadership and administrative experience to the race.
His declaration comes shortly after Atem, a former governor of the defunct Gogrial State and former Undersecretary in the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, also announced his bid.
Atem has outlined peace and reconciliation, security, youth empowerment, education, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture and inclusive governance among his priorities.
The two declarations come just a day after the dissolution of the transitional government, adding momentum to the emerging political contest in Warrap State ahead of the December elections.
