Sudan’s military chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan has named Dafallah Al-Haj Ali as acting prime minister and Omer Mohamed Ahmed Siddiq as foreign minister, filling top leadership vacancies amid the country’s devastating conflict.
The move follows a prolonged power vacuum after Abdalla Hamdok’s 2022 resignation post-coup.
Al-Haj Ali and Siddiq, both seasoned diplomats, join a caretaker government aligned with the military, as Sudan endures a brutal civil war between the army and Rapid Support Forces that has killed tens of thousands and displaced over 15 million.
