Family seeks prayers for hospitalised Anyanya one leader Joseph Lagu

Retired General Joseph Lagu Yanga, leader of the Anyanya One Movement, is receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Juba, according to a public announcement issued by his family.

The family has appealed to well-wishers, friends and members of the public to remember the veteran leader in their prayers, asking God to grant him healing, strength and a speedy recovery.

Lagu is a prominent figure in South Sudan’s history, remembered for his leadership of the Anyanya One movement, which fought for the southern region’s independence from Sudan during the First Sudanese Civil War.

The movement played a significant role in the history of southern Sudan’s struggle for self-determination, culminating in the 1972 Addis Ababa Agreement, which granted the southern region a degree of autonomy.

The family has expressed gratitude to everyone offering prayers, love and support during this difficult period.
