Sudan’s RSF strikes Port Sudan fuel depots for second time

Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a second drone strike within 48 hours on Port Sudan’s fuel depots, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing civil war.

The attack, which targeted vital infrastructure in the eastern city, resulted in large fires and thick plumes of smoke as emergency teams worked to contain the blaze.

These strikes are the first of their kind in Port Sudan since the conflict began in April 2023, highlighting the RSF’s expanding operational reach.

The RSF’s actions have drawn condemnation from regional actors and international organizations, who express concern over the escalating violence and its implications for regional stability.

The attacks underscore the interconnectedness of regional security and economic stability, with the potential to disrupt critical infrastructure and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
