Jamus FC Juba has made history by becoming the inaugural champions of the South Sudan Premier League (SSPL), marking a significant milestone in the nation’s football landscape.

Established on December 21, 2024, the SSPL is South Sudan’s top professional football league, featuring 14 teams and operating under the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA).

The coach Claudio Loboko’s boys beat Hilal Wau 5-1 in the last game of the tournament, ending the competition unbeaten.

It is their second cup celebration in a week after beating rival El Merriekh Bentiu in the South Sudan Cup at the same Juba National Stadium.

Thanks to forward George Rodriguez’s hat trick and two others from his teammates.

The team finished the competition with 68 points six behind the second place Kator FC.

George Rodriguez, a key contributor to Jamus FC’s success, was recognized with the best player award while Godwill Yugusuk of Kator was honored as best goalkeeper and the top scorer was Christopher Kiirya of Koryom Bor.

Jean-Claude Loboko, the Jamus’s coach was named the best coach of the league.

As Jumus FC will now represent South Sudan on the continental stage, runners-up Kator FC will have the honor of competing in the African Confederations Cup.

Jamus FC’s outstanding feat follows a series of impressive performances in domestic competitions.

In September 2024, they secured the Juba Local Super Cup by defeating Malakia FC 3–1. This victory was followed by a 2–1 win over Al-Merreikh Bentiu in the South Sudan Super Cup in November 2024.

Jamus FC’s consistent performances have solidified their position as a dominant force in South Sudanese football, setting a high standard for future seasons in the SSPL.
