Juba’s busiest Custom Market has reportedly caught fire, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky, and vendors and shoppers are battling the blaze.
Firefighters reportedly intervened in an attempt to prevent further destruction. The cause of the blaze remains unknown at this time.
Custom Market, known as one of the busiest commercial centers in South Sudan’s capital, has suffered multiple fire incidents in recent years.
Previous fires have destroyed goods worth millions of South Sudanese Pounds.
