The South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) has imposed disciplinary sanctions on four officials from the Bentiu Local Football Association for breaching football regulations and attempting to unlawfully impeach the local FA’s board of directors.

The suspensions were announced in an official letter signed by SSFA Secretary General, Mr. Victor Lawrence Lual, who stated that the association would not tolerate any breach of football governance procedures.

According to SG Lual, the decision was reached following disciplinary actions in accordance to Articla 50(b), part two of the SSFA General Regulations (2012, amended 2019) and Article 63(2)(f) of the SSFA statutes (2012, amended 2021).

The suspended individuals and their respective bans are as follows:

Mr. Zachariah Kuol – 4-year suspension from all football activities

Mr. Lat Tungwar – 3-year suspension

Mr. Majuan Gatduel – 2-year suspension

Mr. Pech Alpham – 2-year suspension

The suspensions come after a failed attempt by the group to unseat the elected Bentiu FA board members without following the proper legal bases.

The SSFA had earlier nullified the impeachment process, warning of disciplinary consequences for those involved.

“This disciplinary action reinforces our commitment to transparency, rule of law, and organizational stability in South Sudanese football,” read the SSFA’s statement.

The country’s football governing body called on all local football bodies to adhere strictly to its statutes and internal governance protocols.

The SSFA also warned that any future breaches will result in similar or more severe sanctions.
