Floods have destroyed nearly 300 houses in Gogrial East County, displacing hundreds of residents and leaving families in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
According to Mayardit FM, authorities in Mangol Payam reported that at least 268 households have been affected by the flooding, with 40 more houses collapsing this week in Mayen Jur, the headquarters of Nyang Payam.
Mangol Payam Administrator David Atem confirmed the latest destruction, saying most affected families have sought refuge in nearby villages including Malual Ador, Mangol, Rumliet, and Majaknuom.
“Many people have moved to Rieny Anak Jeng, where everyone from Mayen has gathered. They are crying for government and humanitarian assistance,” Atem told Mayardit FM.
He appealed to humanitarian agencies, well-wishers, and the government to provide emergency shelter, food, and medical support to those displaced.
Last week, local authorities reported over 228 households displaced by rising waters in the same area, raising concerns over the worsening impact of seasonal floods across Warrap State.
