Jadalla puts Juba city council on notice over reform agenda

Central Equatoria State Caretaker Governor Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani has urged Juba City Council to fully implement its reform agenda and digital revenue management system, calling for stronger transparency and accountability in revenue collection.

The directive followed a presentation on Friday by Caretaker Mayor Christopher Sarafino Wani Swaka, who briefed the governor on the council’s reform plans, including digital revenue management, waste collection, road infrastructure, market organisation and urban security.

Jadalla stressed the need for city authorities to accelerate the reorganisation of markets and reopen internal roads to improve access for residents and strengthen service delivery.

The governor also expressed support for ongoing efforts to improve garbage collection and nighttime cleaning, saying the initiatives are important for public health, environmental awareness and public order.

Juba City Council leadership pledged to implement the directives, including improving the organisation of markets and reopening roads within the city.

The meeting was attended by relevant caretaker state ministers and the three deputy mayors, who also briefed the governor on sanitation and ongoing efforts to keep Juba clean.
