Juba County Caretaker Commissioner Maulana Kalisto Lado Faustino Nyigilo Wani has warned against illegal land acquisition and deforestation following an inspection in Garbu Boma, Mangalla Payam.
During the inspection on Sunday, 25 October 2026, Lado condemned illegal land settlement and called for legal action against individuals involved in unlawful land acquisition.
He urged residents and prospective land buyers to follow established legal procedures when acquiring land in Juba County, warning that illegal practices could fuel divisions among communities.
“Such acts create division among our people. South Sudan belongs to all of us, and everyone must follow the proper legal procedures when acquiring land,” Lado said.
He stressed that respect for the law was essential to promoting peaceful coexistence, unity and security among communities.
The commissioner was accompanied by Central Equatoria State Commissioner of Police, Lt. Gen. Andria Martin Hassan, during the inspection.
The visit focused on security concerns linked to illegal settlement and deforestation in the area.
