Kajo-Keji MP Anthony Kudus dies in Juba, TNLA confirms

Anthony Kudus, a Member of Parliament representing Kajo-Keji County in Central Equatoria State, has died in Juba, the Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) has confirmed.

According to an official announcement from the Office of the Speaker, lawmaker Kudus passed away on June 23, 2026, in the national capital.

The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.

The announcement has prompted an outpouring of condolences from parliamentary colleagues, constituents, and members of the public who knew him for his service in the legislature and his commitment to representing the interests of the people of Kajo-Keji.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Office of the Speaker expressed sympathy to the late lawmaker’s family, friends, and constituents during what it described as a difficult period of mourning.

“On behalf of the leadership and members of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly, we extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and constituents of the late Hon. Anthony Kudus,” the statement said.

Kudus served as the parliamentary representative for Kajo-Keji County, one of the constituencies in Central Equatoria State.

During his tenure in parliament, he participated in legislative deliberations and advocated for issues affecting his constituency and the wider region.

His death leaves a vacancy in the national legislature and marks a loss for the people he represented in the assembly.

Leaders and colleagues are expected to pay tribute to the late legislator in the coming days as the country reflects on his contribution to public service.

Residents of Kajo-Keji County and members of the South Sudanese community have begun sharing messages of condolence, remembering Kudus as a dedicated public servant who worked to amplify the concerns of his constituents at the national level.

The Transitional National Legislative Assembly has not yet announced any official parliamentary commemorations, but lawmakers are expected to honour his memory during forthcoming sittings.

Details regarding funeral arrangements, memorial services, and official tributes are expected to be communicated by the family and relevant authorities once preparations are finalized.

Anthony Kudus is survived by family members, relatives, colleagues, and constituents who now mourn the loss of a leader whose career was devoted to public service and representation.
