The SPLM Leaders Former Political Detainees (SPLM-FD) has revoked the membership of Isaiah Hakim Garang, accusing him of violating the group’s internal rules after he allegedly made public remarks against its leadership.
In a letter dated September 8, 2026, the group said Hakim’s membership was revoked with immediate effect following what it described as a review of his conduct and alleged violations of its code of conduct.
The SPLM-FD accused Hakim of speaking publicly on behalf of the group without authorization or the consent of its leadership and members, as well as conduct it said fell short of the discipline and accountability expected of its members.
The decision comes amid a political fallout involving Hakim and SPLM-FD leadership, including remarks reportedly directed against Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior, a prominent figure associated with the group.
The organization ordered Hakim to immediately stop presenting himself as a member or representative of the SPLM-FD and said relevant institutions, including the Reconstituted Transitional National Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA) and the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC), would be notified of his change in status.
The group also instructed Hakim to return any SPLM-FD resources, records or government-related materials in his possession to the relevant authorities.
The revocation was signed by three SPLM-FD figures: cde. Gier Chuang Aluong, Cde. Madut Biar Yel and Cde. Dr. Majak D’Agoot.
Hakim’s relationship with the SPLM-FD has also drawn attention, with sources within the political grouping maintaining that he was not among the original former political detainees but was later absorbed into the group.
The latest decision effectively ends his formal association with the SPLM-FD, although it remains unclear whether Hakim will challenge the decision or respond publicly to the allegations.
