The Special Court hearing the Nasir Incident case has adjourned proceedings involving suspended First Vice President Dr Riek Machar and seven co-accused to September 23 after the defence raised security concerns.
During its 115th sitting on Wednesday, defence lawyers submitted a written security application to the court and the prosecution, citing concerns involving members of the defence team and the accused.
The concerns follow issues raised during the previous session over alleged security threats affecting defence lawyers and the accused, particularly Dr Machar.
Presiding Judge Dr James Alala Deng directed the defence not to read the application in open court, leaving the specific nature of the alleged threats undisclosed.
The court then postponed the proceedings to September 23 to allow it to consider the concerns and take appropriate measures.
