Former Western Equatoria State Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro has submitted his nomination forms to contest for the National Assembly seat representing Geographical Constituency No. 8, covering Tombura and Nagero counties.
Bakosoro arrived in Western Equatoria State on Wednesday ahead of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) party primaries, where he is seeking the party’s nomination to represent the constituency in the national legislature.
Bakosoro is a veteran political figure who has previously served as Governor of Western Equatoria State, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Minister of Public Service at the national level.
His previous government positions have placed him in both state and national leadership, having served in different capacities within South Sudan’s public administration.
His latest move into the parliamentary race comes as political activities intensify ahead of the upcoming general elections, with the SPLM expected to conduct primaries to select candidates for various elective positions.
If nominated by the party, Bakosoro will seek to represent voters from Tombura and Nagero counties in the National Assembly under Geographical Constituency No. 8.
